DUST & ILLUSIONS, A Documentary. 30 YEARS OF BURNING MAN

Thursday, February 11th

After 9 months of sold out screenings through the states, and a success at San Francisco Documentary Film Festival, here is the first of a series of screenings in San Francisco & Bay Area. The Director, Olivier Bonin, will be in attendance for Q&A.

TICKETS: http://dustandillusions.com/blog/san-francisco-screening-feb-11th-2010

ABOUT THE FILM: From a group of friends organizing underground activities in San Francisco in the 70s, Burning Man has become the largest countercultural event in North America. But is it still counter-cultural? Has the larger world caught up with the event and slowly erased the original ideals?

Dust & Illusions, Olivier Bonin’s fascinating documentary takes a privileged glimpse at the history and future of Burning Man, one of the most important (if not the most important) counter-cultural movements of the last 3 decades.

Bonin provides a thoughtful and critical overview of the event’s transformation from a humble guerilla art project on San Francisco’s Baker Beach to a major corporation that funds artists, fosters a year-round virtual community, and builds Black Rock City in the middle of nowhere on a yearly basis. If you’ve never been to the playa, DUST & ILLUSIONS will give you an excellent idea of exactly what you’re missing, and veteran burners will see the direction the event is headed (for better or for worse). Don’t miss it.

* Creative Arts Charter School seeks artist support! *

Creative Arts Charter School (CACS) is the only pubic K-8 school in San
Francisco to provide an arts integrated progressive education. CACS was
founded in 1994 by a small group of families and teachers who shared a
vision of an arts-rich, hands-on curriculum based on the best
educational research and progressive teaching practices. Today our
students benefit from a challenging academic environment that not only
includes the arts in the classroom but also includes dedicated dance,
visual arts, and music teachers.

http://www.creativeartscharter.org/

I invite you, fellow artists, to join Creative Arts Charter School
(CACS) in celebrating the many accomplishments of our school. On
Saturday March 20th, 2010 we will be hosting the 2010 Film Festival, Art
Exhibition, and Auction at Lucasfilm. The film festival will showcase
the far reaching talents in our community including films exploring the
creative legacy of which we are privileged to be a part and films
created by our own CACS students.

Our art exhibition will highlight student work as well as special
projects created just for this event. I ask you as a valued member of
our creative community to contribute works of your own arts or crafts to
add to our auction. You will be supporting CACS in three ways. One by
helping to showcase the far reaching talents we have at CACS, by showing
our children the high value we place on the arts, and by helping to
raise fund to continue the unique opportunities CACS offers our children.

Detailed information and images, if possible, of the works need to be
available by March 8th and the works must be delivered to CACS, 1601
Turk St. San Francisco, CA 94115 no later than March 12th, 2010 by 6PM.
We expect approximately 300 people to attend this event. And because we
are a non-profit corporation, all donations are 100% tax deductible; our
Tax ID number is 94-3205197. If you have any questions or need
assistance with delivery, please contact Stacy at 415. 614.2149 or email
